Another Tree—and the REAL Total Number of Cards in the Deck

I'm so excited to share the new Priestess of the Yin illustration!
The former shape at the base of the illustration just wasn't defined enough. It was intended to be a doorway, as if to a temple. To me it was too abstract, and kept looking phallic. It didn't add any meaning to the card.
I love the tree so much, for all the reasons I shared in my last post—and especially how its branches intertwine with the priestess' hair. What do you think?
The final card count: 58!
Along the way of the deck's creation journey, I've added Grief and Abundance. I love this number--it feels much more powerful and substantial.
Meet the Trees of the Deck

This beautiful quote, from one of you, inspired me to collect the tree and root images from the deck and put them all together. Clockwise from the top left they are: Manifestation,Guidance, Non-Negotiables, Grounding and Your Attention. You can read the text for each of these cards at YinOracle.com.
Trees, roots, and grounding deep into the earth are frequent themes in my teaching and in my psyche. There is just no other symbol so universal and powerful for so many aspects of being than a tree rooted in the body of the earth. This is also an essential metaphor for working with energy and embodying our power.
Thank you to Kelly, for her beautiful words in response to The Power of the Yin Oracle Deck. I'm thrilled to say I plan to incorporate her quote into the packaging design for the final deck!
And here's an update!
March 1 is coming. That is the deadline that Yael and I have set to get EVERYTHING TO THE PRINTER so that they can print two complete sample decks for each of us to review.
It will be incredibly exciting to receive the sample deck--to feel the weight and texture of the cards, see the colors, read the text in print, not to mention beholding the box! Stay tuned: you can be sure I'll be sharing photos with you when they arrive!

It's funny—there are no cards in the deck for romanticlove! What was I thinking??
There is, however, a Love card, and I'm sharing that with you today.
This is kind of a "Love wild card"—you can use it anyplace you need love, including your romantic life. Enjoy!
A Conversation & an Update

Hello All,
Last week I had a conversation with Neha, of Dark Fae Tarot (formerly "The Curated Shelf") about The Power of the Yin Oracle Deck.
What makes this conversation so special is that we focused in on several very specific cards, exploring the meaning—to her and to me—of their images, the process of creation, and the potential of their guidance. It was a personal exploration for each of us, and provides a great example of how to work with these cards.
I have many threads going at once as we enter this final stage of creating the deck.
Yael is now designing the card layouts, specifically the text side of each card. This involves choosing a main color, a color scale for the border of the card, and my final edits of the text. This is where we decide line breaks, cuts, font-sizes and re-writing. This is also when I am noticing a few cards that may be calling out for major changes, now that I have the entire context of the deck to work with.
It's great fun and very detail oriented. It involves making big changes, and letting go. It's that balance that comes when something is about to be born in the world.
I can feel the "push to finish" the deck. This is where I have the opportunity to let go, but also important details could get missed. In the middle of the night recently I heard, "Relax and take the time you need."
Doesn't that sound just like the Yin?
