The Guardians of Your Yin Power Part 2: Non-Negotiables

This post is part two in the series describing the four cards The Guardians of Your Yin Power.

Guardian #2: Non-Negotiables

The challenge of the Yin—with the power of receptivity, responsiveness, reflection, flow and shapeshifting—can be that we become over-flexible in trying to please, respond to others’ energies, caretake, and just plain get pushed around.

“Why do I keep giving my power away?” is the question of this phenomenon.

The Yin needs a safe and clear boundary; our non-negotiables keep our power intact.

And as this card shows, non-negotiables come from a grounded and deep root system and a thick, strong trunk.  You are not everything to everyone and everything is not OK.  This is your limit.

But non-negotiables aren't just about your "sacred no."  This card invites you to be unbending about what you love as well: what you would love to experience, who you love and the power of your love to stand up for something.

Once you know what these are, you can relax and breathe easy, because like your integrity, your non-negotiables go with you everywhere you go. They are an expression of your Essence: "they shall not be pruned."

The Guardians of Your Yin Power Part 1: Your Integrity
over 1 year ago – Wed, Oct 05, 2022 at 11:54:52 AM

The Yin is an incredibly powerful energy and life force.

And like any precious, sacred energy, it needs protection.

There is a cast of four guardians the Yin needs to flouirsh.  They make up one of the sets in the Power of the Yin Oracle Deck:"The Guardians of Your Yin Power."  I envision them like tall trees, growing in a circle of protection around each of us.

This is the first in a series of four posts--I'll focus on a different Guardian in each one.

Integrity refers to our wholeness, our coherence, the alignment with our Truth.

All parts of you are on board with the constancy and existential Truth of Who You Are.  An orchestra playing together; no off-notes.

Coming into your integrity involves cultivating and embodying all the layers of yourself: energetic, physical and psychospiritual. It also includes your shadow parts.  All of you belongs here.  It is not a standard of perfection.

It grows as you move through your healing journey.  You are growing to trust yourself.

When you know yourself at this level, you have the most reliable protective companion with you in every situation, wherever you go and whoever you are with: YOU.

In my next post, I'll talk about the Guardian Non-Negotiables.

Your Body is the Portal to the Power of the Yin

The Body—your body—is so important in the deck, I have three different cards directly about it.

I consider the body to be the portal to the Power of the Yin.  With its sensations, longings, habits and even injuries and pain, it is the entry point that takes you into the deep, sensual, ineffable realm of the Yin.

When I work with my clients, we track sensations in the body on the most subtle level.  What begins as an almost random felt-sense, opens up into a world of wisdom.  When we follow it, it takes us to transformational experiences of healing that are often multi-dimensional.  The body never lies.

The body is also where we feel pleasure and desire; it is the home for our sexual energy.  This energy is our life-force creative energy.  And when we listen to what feels good and turns us on (in all ways, not just in the bedroom), we are actually following the "instructional blueprint"* of our Essence.

You can visit www.yinoracle.com to click on each of these cards and read their messages—and let the transmission that this deck is offering speak to you in just the way you need to receive it.

I'd love to hear what you discover.

The Chthonic: One of the more mysterious--and powerful cards in the deck
over 1 year ago – Mon, Oct 03, 2022 at 02:26:45 PM

"The Chthonic": One of the Realms of the Yin. Illustration ©D. Yael Bernhard

"The Chthonic" is one of the more mysterious cards in the deck--and one of my favorites.  (Although, like children, I love them all!!)

Pronounced "thonik", the word comes from the Greek, meaning underworld, subterranean, of the earth.

Carl Jung spoke of the chthonic as the earthy, feminine realm; the place of the serpent crawling on its belly; in contrast to the heavens, and the masculine.  He did not express any favor of one over the other, but understood them as necessary polarities in our psyches.

The chthonic is the place of shadow and underground; the muddy, bloody and the dark.  As an aspect of the feminine, it is the realm where life, death and rebirth mingle.

I consider this figure to be a goddess--perhaps a cousin of Kali--but not one who brings death and destruction.  As I write for this card,  "Her offering is the underworld of life, brought up from the primordial depths for all to see."  She doesn't turn away, and this is her power.  She can stand and be with the darkness and the truth that lies in the shadow.  She is at home in the place where death, decay and compost give way to new life.  She recognizes the whole of the life cycle.

To claim this realm is to claim a place of power.

This illustration, which was not created for this deck but was already part of Yael's portfolio, was my initial inspiration for the power I wanted to transmit.  I love the sensuality, the sexuality, and the primal embodiment of this serpent-woman.

I hope she inspires you to stand and see the truth of all of life: the dark as well as the light.  This truly is an offering to the world--and to the heavens.

What is the Power of the Yin?
over 1 year ago – Sat, Oct 01, 2022 at 01:57:32 PM

The Power of the Yin is, of course, the name of this deck.  And it is the name of my work.

It is also an understanding of a deep and mysterious energy that informs all of life.

I spoke about this power recently with Dipika Delmenico on her Conscious Woman Rising podcast.

If you are interested in this deck, how it springs from my work and the Power of the Yin within yourself

I invite you to take a listen here.

And I'd love to hear what you learned, discovered about yourself, and your thoughts--share in the comments!
